I met Charlie in early 2011 within months of my move to Greenville, SC.  I had bought a 1950’s house that I intended to modernize, so I needed to interview contractors.  Charlie was one of the top-ranked contractors on Craig’s List for our area, so I called him as well as 2 other local contractors.

Charlie met with me several times, as did the other contractors.  What struck me about Charlie is that he continually educated me about the specifics of what needed to be done in each area of the remodel.

He knew that I was interviewing other contractors, so he gave me detailed information about plumbing and electrical supplies so that when I was comparing estimates, I was comparing apples and apples.   It also taught me how the job needed to be done in order to be right.  None of the other contractors gave me such guidance, and he was easy to communicate with.

Another thing that made me go with Charlie was that he was willing to work with my designer.  She had provided detailed drawings for the chosen contractor to follow, and Charlie was willing to work with her.  The contractor with the lowest bid was not willing to do that - he wanted total control, and that scared me.  The third contractor’s price was out of line on the high side.

So, I chose Charlie. I told him the reasons why I had chosen him, and I told him that one of the main reasons was what I could surmise about his personality and character.  And it turned out that I was right about that. (I know, after these 14 years of working with Charlie, that God sent him to me. Because I’ve never regretted it and will continue to call on him.)

If memory serves me, he and his crew have been back 8 times to do various improvements inside and out because I couldn’t afford to do it all at once.  And he’s been back a few times just for minor repairs.

His crew is always nice and respectful. For the longer projects, they were also entertaining as they talked and joked with each other.  He’s also done work on my husband’s log home in TR, and my husband is very pleased with him, too.

"This was part of the first renovation. He added the wall of bookshelves, ceiling fan, fresh paint, can lights, refinished the hardwood floor."
Guest room addition, Greenville, SC.
"This is a guest room after completion. The wall that the beds are against had an open door into the kitchen. Charlie closed that off, giving more wall space for kitchen cabinets and making this room a true bedroom instead of a walk-through room."

"Through the open doorway is the laundry room. It was just an open space that attached to the garage. He added new windows to match the rest of the house, a new exterior door to match the front door, a new back door, plumbing hook ups for a washer/dryer, and tons of storage in a very modern design and functionality. He also updated the facade on the outside to match the rest of the house."
Master bedroom remodeling, Greenville, SC.
In 2014 Charlie remodeled the master bedroom by combining 2 small spaces, adding new windows, enlarging a closet and enlarging the attached bath. Added can-lighting, ceiling fan, refinished the hardwood floor, wall paper on one wall. The double window above the sofa was changed in 2022 to double doors that opened into a large addition.

"This is the new work space that Charlie gave us with the new addition. We both have desks in here, and I have tons of space for sewing, storing fabric, and a treadmill so that we can exercise when the weather won't allow us to do so outside."
Bathroom remodel, Greenville, SC.
"This is the first bathroom remodel he did. In addition to the great millwork that you see, he added space from an adjacent hall closet in order to add the tall storage cabinet that you see in the photo. What is not shown is the shower. He removed the tub and replaced it with a beautiful tile shower."
Kitchen removation, Greenville, SC.
"This is the kitchen, also done when the living rooms were done. In this area he took up the file floor and replaced it with hardwood, all new cabinets, new windows, canned lighting, quartz counters, tile backsplash, appliances, plumbing. This space was initially divided in half with a very small kitchen working area, a penensula and a kitchen table. Very crowded and outdated."

"When Charlie demo'd the old garage, he found that the sills were rotten on both exterior walls because the garage sits below grade. So he replaced them, replaced the plaster walls with sheet rock, added a ceiling fan for summer ventilation, windows to match the rest of the house exterior, can lights, more electrical outlets, an epoxy floor, new steps into the laundry, and he removed old plumbing that was located on the back wall."

"Our log home - porch height changed to mitigate flooding. Removed a poorly constructed screen section, replaced the previous railings with log rails. On the inside - installed new vanities in both bathrooms, replaced a set of exterior double doors and replaced an exterior single door with a full length window. He also shored up and improved the supports of front and back porches which had not been done well by a previous contractor."

I cannot say enough good things about Precision Carpentry, Charlie, or his teams!  I hired Charlie to demo a poorly built addition on my house and then to build back a master suite as well as to extend and fully renovate my kitchen.  The work that he and his team did was far better than I envisioned!  Charlie was very honest and upfront on the cost of everything that needed to be done which was extremely comforting to me as a young woman with no experience in home renovations.  Any issues, changes, or questions that I had through out the process were handled promptly.  Everyone that showed up was always kind, respectful, and made sure to leave the work area tidy at the end of the day. If you’re looking for the right contractor for you, you won’t find a better company to work with than Precision!!
